Catalonia, Tarragona day 2: Jetlag, Roman Ruins, Gorgeous Cathedral

I'm not sure why we are so much more tired this trip than usual, could be the stresses we had before leaving on this trip in the first place.   But the good news is that our extreme jetlag has us fitting in quite well to the lifestyle here, i.e. sleeping in late, afternoon siesta and vibrant nightlife haha!

After finally getting out of bed late afternoon we strolled down the rambla and surrounding area near our hotel and stumbled upon a restaurant called Pepita!  It made me so happy to find a place with my nickname as it's name!  My step dad and that side of my family has called me Pepita since forever.   We ordered some delicious coffee and a yummy flatbread pizza type thing.

After that quick bite we walked down towards the beach area and soaked in the views for a bit.

Then we headed towards the Plaća del Fòrum part of town.  Plaça del Fòrum is a really neat little area that has bars and shops amongst Roman ruins everywhere!  Was so fun to see something so old so close!

We stopped for some sangria and beers at a few places.

And had the local dish called Patatas Bravas.   Which isn't much to look at but was soooooo yummy!  I was kinda surprised at how we completely demolished such a simple looking dish haha!  Guess all our walking around made us hungry.

Normally we aren't all that into going into old buildings but there's a church in the center of Plaça del Fòrum called Catedral de Santa Tecla that looked interesting and we were way under budget so decided to shell out the 5 Euro for entry.  We only had about 35 total minutes before it closed so we just got a glimpse of it.  But it was absolutely BEAUTIFUL!  And we also didn't get smited for stepping in the church haha!  It was definitely a peaceful place to wander a bit.

After that we continued to wander the streets, which are beautiful themselves!

We came across several grade school bands practicing for the big festival,  Santa Tecla that starts this week.  Was fun watching them practice and they were pretty dang good!

Because you all know my love for craft beer,  we hit up the craft beer bar called Twins.  The beer was very good!  And the bartender let me have a lot of bottle caps to take home, woot woot! (I collect bottle caps from all over the world for projects, will make a post on that when it's done).  Plus, it's not every day you get to sit in a bar with Roman ruins right outside the door, was pretty cool!

Our plan was to venture closer to the hotel, grab a quick bite to eat... which we did...

But somehow we ended up in a fun bar that had good music and fun bartenders called Groove. Next thing we knew it was 4am.  Whoops!

The bartender took this and told us he was giving the picture character with his action shot haha!

Tarragona,  you've been super fun so far!  Even with our bumbling Spanish attempts,  everyone has been super nice and understanding.   Now to see what other kind of shenanigans we can pull off on our last day here.
